It is unsafe to prophesy; but I think it is 2

reasonable conjecture that Japanese intervention in

S..China is on too small a scale to inter ere materially

with the course of trade through Hong Kong, and that to

the extent that order is restored in that area normal

business through Hong Kong will be resumed, whatever the

nominal sovereignty in this and other prts of China may be.
